Jazzway 6004 presents its 15th Anniversary concert featuring acclaimed vibraphonist (and Jazzway favorite) Warren Wolf with his very special guest, rising star vocalist Alicia Olatuja. With Warren Wolf - vibraphone, Alex Brown – piano, Blake Meister – bass, Charles Wilson – drums, Alicia Olatuja – vocals.
Vibraphonist Warren Wolf brings an exciting collaboration to Jazzway 6004 for our 15th Anniversary concert. Warren features the acclaimed vocalist and rising star, Alicia Olatuja, who sang “The Battle Hymn of the Republic,” with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir at President Obama’s Second Inauguration in 2013 and made headlines. The New York Daily News praised her as “a new musical star”. Alicia Olatuja’s artistry is a wondrous weave of jazz, blues, gospel, classical, pop and Afropop musical genres. Olatuja’s embrace of those sonic stylings have enabled her to work with a wide variety of musicians - from jazz superstars Chris Botti, Christian McBride and Billy Childs and Michael Olatuja, to R&B and gospel legends Chaka Khan and BeBe Winans - and it also enables her to be a comprehensive and compelling artist in her own right. “I see myself as a prism,” Olatuja says, “just as light goes into a prism and then scatters in different colors, that’s pretty much what I've always focused on being able to do as an artist, regardless of what genre I’m singing.”
Alicia Olatuja’s collaboration with the ever inventive and exciting Warren Wolf is guaranteed to be event worth witnessing.

In honor of Joni Mitchell’s 75th birthday, award-winning vocalist Marianne Matheny-Katz presents her six-year ongoing and evolving Joni Mitchell project with the select band that she has been collaborating with since its inception. Some of the arrangements have been developed by Alan Blackman and others have been created by the entire ensemble over the years. The complexities of Joni Mitchell’s melodies and lyrics drew many of the world’s greatest jazz musicians to collaborate and perform with her. New and longtime fans will be delighted to hear hip new arrangements of Joni favorites across her entire discography. This project will be performed around the MD-DC area during the coming months to prepare for a new recording.
